Photomicrographs: line-etch with hard ground

I started with a zinc plate, covered it with hard-ground (an acid-resistant covering made of asphaltum and turpentine), drew an image on the hard-ground, and etched in dilute nitric acid (10:1 and 5:1). Here are some microscope photos of the resulting etched plate.
